Soul Codex is a consumable that raises your gear's Soul Binding rate. In AION 2, open Enhancement with N, select Soul Binding, then choose your equipment and Bind to spend it. You are improving the equipment's binding percentage; Soul Codex itself is the material you consume.
How Do You Get Soul Codex in AION 2?
You can get Soul Codex from activities including Expeditions, Transcendence, Dimensional Invasion, Shugo Festival and Hidden Cubes, plus rewards such as achievements and attendance.
| Where to look | Soul Codex sources |
|---|---|
| Combat activities | Expedition Exploration and Conquest, Transcendence, Sanctuary, Dimensional Invasion |
| Festival and exploration | Shugo Festival, Hidden Cubes |
| Reward categories | Nightmare Consumables, Season Growth, A2 Mileage Consumables |
| Other rewards and acquisition | Side quests, achievements, attendance, Shop, Trade Shop, Substance Morph |
If you are collecting exploration rewards, work Hidden Cubes into your route. Keep Soul Codex and Soul Codex: Reset separate in your inventory: their jobs are different, even though both belong to the Soul Binding system.
How Do You Use Soul Codex to Raise Soul Binding Rate?
Choose Bind to spend Soul Codex and bound currency on raising your equipment's existing substat values.
Open your equipment in Soul Binding
Press N for Enhancement, open Soul Binding, and select the weapon, armor or accessory you want to improve. The icons beside its portrait switch between the available functions.
Get the options you want with Sync
If an option is wrong for your build, select Sync and choose that stat to reroll. Sync consumes Unique equipment or higher, and the new result is random. Choose the options you want to keep before spending Soul Codex to raise their values.

Bind the stats you plan to keep
Select Bind, check its material and currency cost, then apply it to raise the Soul Binding rate. Reaching 100% takes repeated binding and maximizes the normal substat values. Each use increases the cost of later binds on that item, so check the price again before continuing. If currency is holding you up, move to Kinah farming before spending more.

Use the function that matches what you want to change:
| Function | What changes | What it consumes |
|---|---|---|
| Bind | Raises existing substat values | Soul Codex and bound currency |
| Sync | Rerolls a chosen stat randomly | Unique equipment or higher |
| Reset | Rerolls all stats randomly | Soul Codex: Reset |
Reset replaces all the stats on the piece, and repeated resets on that item cost more. If you only want to replace one option, Sync lets you target that stat instead.
How Can You Avoid Wasting Soul Codex on the Additional Slot?
If your equipment offers Soul Fuse and a skill option in its additional slot, choosing that skill can save further binds because skill options already have a 100% Soul Binding rate.
First raise the gear's Soul Binding rate to 100%. You can then use a Philosopher's Stone through Soul Fuse to unlock an additional slot.

Choose a Skill Option to Save Further Binds
Prefer a useful skill option when your goal is to avoid more Soul Codex spending after Soul Fuse. Its binding rate starts at 100%, so it needs no further binding to raise its value. Get your normal stats where you want them first, then look for the skill in the additional slot.
Choose a Normal Stat if You Want to Invest Further
A normal stat in the additional slot may need more binds to reach its maximum value. By this point, repeated binding has already raised the item's cost. Budget for those extra attempts before committing to this route.
With your chosen options strengthened, you can move on to the next part of gear score progression. Keep the distinction clear as you upgrade: Sync changes an option, Bind raises its value, and Soul Fuse opens room for an additional one.
