Known bug

Try switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data; some players report that this stops S:17 disconnects. The Aion 2 error S 17 can send you back to the login or server screen when entering a character, opening Nightmare, or joining a boss fight. Start with the situation that matches your disconnect, because players have also reported cases affecting only one character.

How do you stop S:17 disconnects on Wi-Fi?

Try the same character on mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. Some players could play normally on mobile data while Wi-Fi triggered S:17, including when changing game settings.

  1. On your phone, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
  2. Log into the character that was disconnecting.
  3. Retry the action that caused the error, such as entering Nightmare or changing a setting.

Other players reported that WARP or a VPN let them play without the disconnect. Treat this as an alternative connection test rather than a guaranteed fix: one player with a Nightmare problem still disconnected after changing ExitLag nodes and trying another computer.

If your main character fails on mobile but works on PC, playing that character on PC is another reported workaround. An alternate character working on the same phone does not mean your main will work there too.

What can you try if S:17 appears during a boss fight?

Try normal graphics quality, the lowest resolution scale, and fewer visible players before joining the crowd. One player reported that normal quality with the scale at its minimum stopped their boss-fight disconnects; they returned the scale to native outside those fights.

Lowering effects alone did not help the player who reported disconnecting shortly after approaching the boss. Another player specifically suggested reducing the number of simultaneously visible characters.

Lower settings do not work for everyone. Another player still disconnected with minimum effects and the fewest visible characters, while a different player reported needing a VPN for the boss fight.

What if S:17 only affects your main character?

Compare your main and an alternate character in the same activity before repeating a reinstall. A player reported that their main disconnected after Nightmare loaded while their alternate characters entered normally. Reinstalling, changing ExitLag nodes, and using another computer did not resolve that case.

Another player described a single character disconnecting when entering instances, depositing items in storage, or changing game settings, while other characters remained playable. If this matches your situation, contact game support with the affected character and the exact action that triggers S:17. Include whether an alternate character can complete that action.

If you never reach an S:17 message and remain on the loading screen, continue with the Aion 2 stuck on loading screen page instead.

Once your character stays connected, retry the activity that was failing. If you can stay in the game but your character cannot move, follow the Aion 2 character stuck page for that separate problem.

Status as of October 19, 2026: Players report connection-dependent S:17 disconnects, mixed results from boss-fight settings, and failures affecting a single character.
