At 1,600 gear score, you can start Transcendents and begin filling your five Arcana slots. To progress through the AION 2 Arcana system, run both initial encounters, equip your higher-rarity drops, then replace green cards with blue and yellow cards as you advance. Use spare cards to enhance cards worth keeping, or Extract them for mysterious crystals to craft cards through Transmute.
Where Do You Get Your First Arcana Cards?

Start with Transcendents at 1,600 gear score. Your main card-farming loop is to complete a Transcendence dungeon and open the cube at the end for Arcana cards. If you still need to reach that entry milestone, use the AION 2 guide to 1400 and gear score progression first.

Run both initial encounters, rather than repeating only one. Their card pools differ:
| Initial encounter | Card types to look for |
|---|---|
| The other initial encounter | Mirror and Parchment |
| Deius | Bell and Compass |
Check the reward preview before choosing your run, then check the card types you receive from the ending cube. If you keep farming Deius while looking for Mirror or Parchment, you are farming the wrong pool.
Open the Arcana equipment menu and put each card into its matching slot. Bell, Compass, and Parchment are different card types with separate slots. Confirm that the cards appear equipped and that your gear score increases.
For your first cards, prioritize rarity over perfect stats. You will replace these cards as you reach higher stages, so filling slots with rarer drops is the practical first goal. Save detailed skill optimization for cards you intend to keep.
How Do Green Cards Get You to Stage Two?

Aim for S grade in the initial runs to obtain green cards. Each green card contributes 40 gear score, so five green cards provide 200. From a 1,600 starting point, that puts you at 1,800 before other improvements.
| Progression step | Gear score effect | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Equip five green cards | 200 total, taking 1,600 to 1,800 | All five Arcana slots are filled with green cards |
| Add further equipment enhancements | Close the gap to 1,900 | Your character reaches the stage-two entry milestone |
| Replace five green cards with blue cards | Another 20 per card, or 100 total | Blue cards occupy all five slots |
The green set alone leaves a gap before 1,900, so continue your other equipment enhancements rather than expecting those five cards to unlock stage two by themselves.

At 1,900, move into stage two and replace green cards with blue cards. A full replacement adds another 100 gear score, taking a 1,900 character to 2,000 if nothing else changes. Confirm the improvement on your character's gear score after each replacement.

Later, farm stage three to replace blue cards with yellow cards. Check the selected stage's reward preview for the card rarity you are targeting before spending a run, then check your drops and equipped cards afterward.
How Do You Upgrade Cards Worth Keeping?
The card interface can look like a wall of colors and skill lines. Read it in three parts: type determines the slot and skill pool, set provides set bonuses, and the border identifies rarity and the starting number of skills.
| Card rarity | Starting skills |
|---|---|
| Gray | 1 |
| Green | 2 |
| Blue | 3 |
| Gold | 4 |
A card can have at most four skills. Enhancing increases its level; on a gold card already holding four skills, each level adds one level to a random existing skill. That is why good base skills matter later: if all four are useful, every enhancement improves a useful line.
Enhance for Card Experience

Use enhancement when you have a card worth leveling. Select that card and sacrifice cards you do not need for card experience. After leveling a gold card, check its skill lines to see which existing skill gained a level; you do not choose that upgrade.
Before investing heavily, decide which skills your build actually needs. For example, a Templar can use the AION 2 Templar build to guide that decision. A higher card level cannot fix a base skill pool that misses your priorities.
Extract for Crafting Crystals

Choose Extract when your goal is a crafted card instead of experience for an equipped card. Sacrificing unwanted cards fills the extraction bar; reaching 100% gives you a mysterious crystal. Check the bar and your crystal count to confirm the result.
Enhancement and extraction both consume spare cards. Decide whether you need card experience or crafting crystals before feeding them in, and keep any card you still need for an equipped slot.
How Do You Craft an Arcana Card with Transmute?

Open Transmute at the top right of the Arcana interface. Crafting a gold card with one chosen skill takes five mysterious crystals. Crafting helps you target a skill, but the remaining lines can still be random.

- Choose a set on the left and a card type in the center. Confirm the selected set and type before picking skills.
- Click the plus button to inspect the skill pool. Confirm that the skill you want appears in that card's pool.
- Select your priority skill and review the crafting cost. Check both the selected skill and your crystal balance before crafting.
- Inspect the finished card. Confirm your chosen skill, then read the random lines before deciding how much to enhance it.
For your first targeted craft, Chalice is the recommended choice because its skill pool is broad. Other types have smaller pools, making useful combinations easier to obtain through drops. Inspect the pool in your own menu before committing crystals.
Choose One Skill: Recommended for Your First Craft

The first skill selection adds no extra crafting cost. Choose the skill that matters most to your build, then accept that the other lines are random. This keeps your first targeted gold card at the five-crystal crafting cost.
Choose Two Skills: More Control, Higher Cost

Choosing a second skill significantly increases the crafting cost. A gold card with two chosen skills still receives two random skills, so paying more does not guarantee four ideal lines.
Flame Arrow and Hellfire are an example of two selected skills. If you are choosing skills for that class, consult the AION 2 Sorcerer build before spending crystals. Confirm both selected skills and the revised cost in the crafting window.
How Can You Get Five Mysterious Crystals Sooner?
You can combine extraction, the season shop, and Ascension challenge rewards instead of waiting to extract all five crystals.

- Open Season, then Season Mission, then Challenge → Season.
- Find the Ascension trial challenges. Scoring 4,000 or more points lets you collect three mysterious crystals across those rewards. Check the challenge rewards and claim them there.
- Get the remaining two crystals through card extraction or purchases with season currency. Confirm that you hold five crystals before returning to Transmute.
Ascension trial gives you three entries per week, and dying consumes an entry. Play for the clear rather than risking an entry unnecessarily. Be selective with season-shop purchases too, since the shop contains other valuable items.
Once your slots are filled and your first targeted card is crafted, you have both a gear score boost and a card you can improve around useful skills. Continue with AION 2 gear progression to plan the equipment upgrades alongside your next Arcana replacements.
