Assassin BuildPvE / PvP

Your Assassin setup depends on whether you are fighting a boss or another player. The recommended AION 2 Assassin build for PvE uses Illusive Clone, Swift Contract, Savage Fang, and Triniel's Dagger for back attacks and five-stack Insignia Explosion bursts; for PvP, use Shadow Walk, Illusive Clone, Aerial Bind, and Evasion Contract for stealth, control, and escapes.

Which Assassin Loadout Should You Choose?

PvE Critical and Insignia Burst: Recommended for Bosses

This setup rewards staying behind your target and turning critical hits into repeated Heart Gore casts. Savage Fang supplies five Insignias immediately, while Quick Slice helps bring Insignia Explosion back sooner. Pick it when your goal is boss damage and you can maintain back-attack positioning.

Your core passives are Exploit Weakness, Rear Smite, and Ambush Stance. They support the clone's Crit / Attack boost, back-attack damage, and bonus damage after movement skills respectively. Swift Contract strengthens Rear Smite during its active window, so positioning matters even more during burst.

PvP Stealth, Control, and Survival: Recommended for Duels and Skirmishes

Use Shadow Walk, Illusive Clone, Aerial Bind, and Evasion Contract when you need to choose your opening, lock someone down, and get out. This trades the PvE loadout's dedicated damage tools for stealth, Airborne setups, and a response to Slows and Roots.

Choose Heightened Sixth Sense, Revitalization Contract, and Apply Poison as passives. Their roles are Evasion / Recovery, CC resistance / emergency healing, and healing-reduction pressure. If you are still deciding which class to commit to, check the AION 2 class tier list before planning these upgrades.

Which Skill Levels Make the Build Work?

These are skill and Stigma levels. Treat them as functional milestones: an opener that assumes a specialization you do not have can fail even if you press the right buttons.

ModeUpgradeWhat it enables
PvEQuick Slice level 12Hits reduce Insignia Explosion's cooldown by 1 second.
PvEHeart Gore level 16Critical hits reset its cooldown.
PvEAmbush level 16Two additional consecutive uses.
BothIllusive Clone level 1020% Critical Damage Boost while active.
PvESwift Contract level 10Rear Smite's effectiveness multiplied by 1.5 during its window.
PvESavage Fang level 15Hits grant 10% PvE Damage Boost for 10 seconds.
PvPShadow Walk level 15Re-enter stealth during combat.
PvPAerial Bind level 5 / 10Range increases from 4m to 20m / unlocks Aerial Slaughter.
PvPShadow Fall level 16Allows use against Blinded targets.
PvPEvasion Contract level 1030% Move Speed during evasion uptime.

Specializations can look like a list you should equip all at once. Read them as a progression instead: slots unlock at levels 8, 12, and 20, while advanced choices become available at 12 and 16. At level 16, equip your build's primary two choices until level 20 opens the next slot.

Before testing a rotation, check that the required level and specialization are present. For Heart Gore, the practical check is that a critical hit resets its cooldown; for Quick Slice, watch Insignia Explosion's cooldown shorten on hits.

How Do You Run the PvE Burst Rotation?

Get behind the target

Quick Slice's Specialty list, including the option that lowers Insignia Explosion's cooldown on hit.

Use Shadowstrike, then chain Ambush and Triniel's Dagger from the rear. Ambush and Triniel's Dagger have innate 30% Back Attack damage multipliers. Check your position relative to the target's facing before spending the follow-up attacks; landing the sequence from the front loses that benefit.

Open the damage window

Activate Swift Contract and Illusive Clone during a damage phase, then repeatedly use Heart Gore. Illusive Clone removes its cooldown, and the level-16 critical reset supports repeated casts during burst. Confirm that Heart Gore is available for successive casts rather than assuming the loop works before your upgrades are equipped.

Build five Insignias and detonate

Use Savage Fang to apply five stacks immediately, or build them with Savage Roar. Check that five active Insignias are on the target, then use Insignia Explosion before they expire. Weave Quick Slice to reduce the detonation cooldown. Greeding another attack while your stacks run out undermines the burst you just prepared.

Fill between bursts and watch for Stagger

Weave Quick Slice and Heart Gore between burst windows for MP sustain. Use Storm Rampage when the boss enters Stagger. Confirm the target is actually Staggered before attempting it: Storm Rampage requires that state and cannot be cast freely.

For the specializations supporting this loop, prioritize Heart Gore's critical reset, Quick Slice's Insignia Explosion cooldown reduction, and Ambush's additional uses. Ambush's back-attack specialization applies two Insignias for 10 seconds. Insignia Explosion can retain two stacks after use and take a 3-second cooldown reduction, helping the next cycle start with some progress already preserved.

How Do You Make the PvP Control Chain Reliable?

  1. Enter from the flank or rear with Shadow Walk. Open with Shadowstrike for Stun, then immediately use Shadow Fall for Knockdown. Check that the Stun landed before treating Shadow Fall as your next guaranteed action.
  2. Use the Blind fallback only with Shadow Fall level 16. If Stun fails, apply Blind with Flash Slice or Infiltrate, then follow with Shadow Fall. Confirm the target is Blinded and you have the specialization allowing that condition.
  3. Build five Insignias before Aerial Bind. Use Savage Roar and Ambush with its back-attack specialization. Check the active stack count before casting: five stacks raise the Airborne chance from 50% to 100%. Follow with Insignia Explosion.
  4. Activate Illusive Clone after confirming control. Watch for the target's Stun, Knockdown, or Airborne state before committing the burst buff. Spending it before control lands risks losing your uninterrupted damage window.

Shadow Fall is condition-gated. Its baseline condition is Stun, with an innate 5% proc chance against Incapacitated Immune targets. Knockdown and Airborne do not satisfy the normal requirement. Blind works only with the level-16 specialization, so a target being controlled does not automatically make Shadow Fall usable.

Save Defiance for hard CC such as Stun, Knockdown, or Fear. Use its Tenacity window to reposition or reset into stealth. If your opponent uses Defiance, disengage and wait for their Tenacity buff to end before spending more control tools. Confirm that buff has ended before recommitting; pressing the next CC immediately wastes the opening you are trying to create.

Use Evasion Contract reactively to break Slows and Roots. Check that the movement restriction clears, then reposition. That keeps Defiance available for the hard-control situation it is meant to answer.

Which Stats and Flex Swaps Should You Use?

BuildStat priority, highest first
PvEAccuracy to hit cap, Critical Hit, Critical Damage Boost, Attack / PvE Damage Boost, Back Attack Damage Boost, Cooldown Reduction
PvPAccuracy to overcome enemy Evasion, PvP Damage Tolerance / Status Effect Resist, Critical Hit, Max HP, Evasion

The PvE order puts Accuracy before damage multipliers, while the PvP order moves defensive stats ahead of Critical Hit. A numerical Accuracy cap and an exact equipment list have not been established here, so use these priorities without inventing a target number or a named best-in-slot set.

Heavy Slows or Roots: Swap Triniel's Dagger for Evasion Contract

In PvE encounters with heavy movement restrictions, this swap favors melee uptime. You give up Triniel's Dagger's place in the back-attack sequence to gain a way to clear Slows and Roots. Confirm the cleanse restores your ability to move, then get back behind the target.

Extended Arena Brawls: Swap Shadow Walk for Evasion Stance

When stealth resets are difficult, replace Shadow Walk with Evasion Stance. Level 5 grants an extra charge; level 10 allows mobile casting. Check those upgrades before expecting the additional charge or movement freedom. This choice favors sustained fighting over the stealth-reset plan.

With these milestones and condition checks in place, you have a boss burst plan and a separate PvP control plan. Keep your next upgrade tied to the loop you actually use.
